All current Discount Internet's Customers are installed.

To dial into our new digital service all you basically need to change is the phone number. BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES, we recommend you write down your original settings in case you have trouble.

To change the phone number and check settings please do the following.


From Windows 95/98 program manager. Double click 'My Computer'.


Double click 'Dial Up Networking'.


Highlight the Icon used to dial into Discount Internet by single clicking with the left mouse button (in this example 'Discount' is the name of the Icon). Next, click 'File', click 'Properties'.

From the 'General' tab, enter the new phone number 361-654-1050.


Under the 'Server Types' tab, the only item that should be checked is TCP/IP at the bottom. Then Click 'TCP/IP Settings' to the right.


Of the two items at the bottom of the 'TCP/IP' window only 'Use default gateway on remote network' should be checked. If you have the DNS information filled it, leave it as it is. It will work with or without the DNS information (figure above is shown without DNS information). Click 'OK'. That should do it. All of our customers are installed in our new digital service.

About our new equipment.

Our New digital equipment is manufactured by Lucent Technology. Lucent Technology was AT&T before spinning off under it's own brand. Lucent is also one of the largest providers of Telephone Company equipment and is the maker of the switch our new equipment is connected to.

Lucent just purchased Ascend for 16 Billion and is a major player in Internet Provider equipment. They also manufacture 'chip sets' for many PC modems. If you plan to purchase a modem soon, look for the 'Lucent' label on the modem's internal parts. With this, a Lucent modem is dialed into a Lucent Access Server connected to a Lucent 5E switch should deliver better service.
